🏃‍♀️ My 18th marathon. ❤️ My 10th @st.george.marathon 🌟 A new course PR of 2:56:20 -

It’s #fbf and I’ve finally had a minute to put some thoughts together about the 2018 St. George Marathon. -

When I crossed the finish line I felt such a tremendous amount of gratitude for that moment.🙏Gratitude to @greenzgirl1 for being the best training partner and for giving up her race day to pace me. Gratitude to my family who loves and supports these big goals. Gratitude to the @stgeorgerunningcenter and @healthologyexperts Who have seen me through the ups and downs of racing and injuries. My heart was truly full and I felt so satisfied with the work I was able to do that day. -

@jwardy21 was the keynote speaker for the @st.george.marathon this year. He gave the best advice. He said, “Anxiety lives in the future, regret lives in the past, so all you can do is focus on the present and run the mile you’re in.” I felt pretty flat from miles 8-23. Every mile I wondered if this race would come together. I worried that I wouldn’t be able to hold my pace for another 10 or 15 miles. So I took Jared’s advice and focused on the mile I was in. It worked. That doesn’t mean the race didn’t hurt, but I kept fighting. I realized while I was running that this hard mile will end, a good song will come on, the caffeine will kick in, a volunteer or a spectator will shout your name and you’ll feel a new surge of positive energy. What’s waiting for you at the finish line-your family, your friends, a new PR-it’s worth the work to get where you want to be. -

When Amber and I crossed the finish line we spotted Jared Ward who had come out to cheer at the marathon. That’s pretty impressive. We high-fived and I thanked him for his advice. I’m excited to cheer for him and all the other amazing athletes participating in the NYC Marathon this weekend. -

On a personal note, I’ve been quiet on my page for a while. It has been a good break. I’ve been able to give the things I love more focus and more presence. I decided it’s time to get my Master’s degree, so the next 12 months will be extra busy for me, but I’m excited to chase some new goals and maybe some old ones...like Boston 2020!

This week I got to attend @coryreese book signing at the @stgeorgerunningcenter Cory shared his recent experience at Western States and at last year’s Badwater. I was so inspired by his grit and determination to accomplish truly amazing running feats. 🙌 -

He shared a few mental tricks that he employs when training and racing. 💫 Smile 💫 Be willing to embrace the struggle 💫 Remind yourself of your hard work 💫 Avoid catastrophic thinking (I loved that one) 💫 Remember it’s always darkest before the dawn. -

Cory’s first book “Nowhere Near First” was an amazing read about his journey into ultrarunning and I’ve started his new book “Into the Furnace” I seriously can’t put it down. You can order it from Amazon and you will love it! -

15 miles down the @st.george.marathon course yesterday with good friends! An extra big thank you to @eatsweatluvrun husband who dropped us off at 5:30 in the morning and to @wewannabefit for hanging with me. Those last 5 were a bit rough. 🙈😅

London was incredible! It’s a face paced, people packed, fascinating place. I loved the contrast of modern and ancient, old and new, classic and punk. This is a view of Tower Bridge and we spent most of our last day exploring the Tower of London which was so cool! It was a 10 mile run day and then a 10 mile walk day. My legs were toast but I was so happy! -

This has been a bucket list trip about 20 years in the making and I’m so grateful to my mom for taking us to the home of our ancestors, my sister for planning this grand adventure, and my husband who rocked being a single dad for 10 days. #runningourlives •

I loved running here and looped the park over and over trying to see every statue, fountain, and plaque. We toured the palace later and learned about Queen Victoria’s life (you can see the palace behind me) then we finished off the visit with a Victoria sponge. Our tour guide said, “You look down one street and it’s Georgian, then you look down another and it’s Medieval, then you turn around and there’s a Starbucks.” 😂🙌 I thought that summed this historic city up perfectly. The next part of our tour of England took us to the tiny town of Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters. We spent hours taking in the beauty of the town and exploring the surrounding moorlands that inspired much of three sisters’ writing. They were great walkers (walking 10 miles just to visit a friend) and I have no doubt if they’d lived in our day, they would have liked running these trails too. It was incredible!
