Hi Friends! I’m Katie, I’m a 37 year old Seattle transplant, happily living and running in St. George, Utah. Ten years ago my husband and I traded rain for sun and green trees for red rock, and I love my running town. I’ve been a runner for more than 20 years and although I’m not an expert, my experience has taught me a lot about training, fueling, racing, dealing with injuries, nutrition, and even a little Crossfitting. All the things I can’t wait to share with you.
I run for the St. George Running Center and I love the collaborative, tight-knit running community in St. George. I fuel on a primarily plant based diet. I call myself a picky pescetarian, because I occasionally eat salmon (can’t take the Seattle out of the girl). I am a believer that food is medicine, and making plant-based, whole-food choices can improve any fitness goals you have.
My love for running is totally eclipsed by my love for my family. I’ve been blessed with a loving, supportive, patient husband and a four-year-old who teaches me patience every day (her determination proves that marathons are in her future). When I’m not running, writing, or being a wife and mother, I’m at my school teaching 6th grade language arts. As women we are constantly juggling our duties and responsibilities, it’s why running is so important to me. Running makes me be a better mom, wife, teacher, friend, sister; those titles that I value the most.
So whether you’re training for a 5K or a marathon, let’s run our lives together, one step at a time.
